A Greerton family whose dogs have allegedly been roaming the streets and defecating on their neighbors properties could have the animals taken off them.
Tauranga City Council have received a series of complaints from neighbors about Fredric Brignone's two Sharpei dogs.
Animal services team leader Brent Lincoln said frequent complaints had been placed since November 2012 until as recently as last week.
He said the complaints related to the dogs allegedly roaming, defecating on the street and on neighboring properties, having an intimidating factor due to their size and some allegations of low level aggression such as growling.
The couple spoke at a hearing in the council chambers this afternoon, disputing the possible removal of the dogs from their care and asking the council to allow them to keep them.
