Will (Simon Bird), Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Simon (Joe Thomas) were all doing their own things until they heard from Jay, who painted the brightest of pictures about his holiday in Australia.
To break away from their mediocre lives, the three other boys decide to pay him a visit and enjoy the high life he is enjoying.
When they arrive and realise Jay is doing little more than spinning a very large yarn, they decide to make the best of their holiday and have an Aussie adventure.
But there is one thing you can be very sure of with these boys - they are not very clever and they are bound to end up in the mother of all trouble.
Heading north from Sydney to the hippie town of Byron Bay, Will tries to impress a girl while Jay desperately attempts to find his ex-girlfriend.
Their day out at Splash Planet is not to be missed unless you're a little squeamish.
Still in search of Jay's girl, the Outback beckons and the team heads to Birdsville and near death in the desert.
But at every step of the way you can be very sure of one thing - if there's a hard way to do things, if there are mistakes to be made, these boys will make them.
There is nothing too intellectual about their antics. Much of the humour is quite crass.
If that is what tickles your fancy, then The Inbetweeners 2 is certainly going to experience a lot of box-office success.
