A man has been charged after allegedly walking up to a couple pushing their three-year-old son in a pram and kicking the child in the face.
The alleged assault reportedly took place at around 11.30pm on Friday, when the boy's mother and father were approached by a man unknown to them in Sydney's CBD.
The stranger reportedly made repeated demands of the man and woman, before allegedly kicking the toddler in the face and fleeing the scene.
The boy's father tried to chase the man but lost sight of him and called 000, according to NSW Police.
Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command arrived at King Street soon after and proceeded to search for the man.
At around 12.45am, he was located in Martin Place after security guards contacted police about his erratic behaviour, news.com.au reported.
The 18-year-old man was taken to Sydney City Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
The young boy was taken to Sydney Eye Hospital for treatment of a cut lip and facial swelling.
