Thai Police have confirmed the body of a man who was found on a New Zealand-registered yacht at a Phuket beach was a NZ-citizen named Allen Moselen.

The man was found dead in a yacht anchored off Phuket's Nai Harn Beach.

The man's identity was confirmed by the New Zealand Embassy in Bangkok through the Phuket Royal Thai Police today.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesman said the ministry was in contact with the family.

The Phuket News reported the yacht was the Waitane II and believed Mr Moselen died about 10 days before his body was discovered by a local hotel worker.

Police said there were no signs of assault or struggle.

No other information about the man was currently available.
