After sudden temperature drops around the country heralding in winter, the weather is predicted to become milder by the end of this week and temperatures should rise slightly.
Phillip Duncan of Weather Watch said this was because of a change in weather patterns.
"The big low in the southern ocean that's responsible for all the weather we've been having this week is moving away from us well and truly."
Mr Duncan said a high was now rolling in to the country, meaning tomorrow would be mild in most places, although frosty early on.
Aucklanders needing a break from the rain should be in luck too.
