The Central Districts Under 17's including Wanganui Collegiate batsmen Sam Sherriff were sitting second place heading into the fifth round of the national tournament at Auckland's Te Atatu Park yesterday.
Their match with bottom of the table Otago was rain affected.
In the points standings, Auckland were leading with four straight wins, while Otago had lost four, and CD were in a four-team tie in the middle with Canterbury, Northern Districts and Wellington – each with two wins.
CD had two bonus points to sit outright second place ahead of Canterbury and Wellington with one.
CD started with a comfortable 87 run win over Canterbury last Saturday, with Sherriff scoring 40 from 55 balls in his team's total of 230.
