Bringing a bit of Christmas festivity to the rest home

Decorations galore and a bit of Christmas cheer will fill the corridors of Kowhainui Home and Village next month.

On Wednesday, December 13, the Whanganui rest home is putting on a Christmas
parade to ensure elderly residents don't miss out on the festivities.

Kowhainui manager Trish Boswell said the majority of residents can't attend the town parade so they thought they would bring it to them instead.

"We are super excited about this event. The parade will mainly be through the corridors of our home and we have staff, volunteers and various others dressing up."

The Fire Service, RSA and children from neighbouring Montessori preschool have been invited to take part in the festive event.

The parade will start at 1.30pm and will be followed by a sausage sizzle for the residents and guests.
