A former Whanganui District Health Board (DHB) doctor was arrested at Wellington Airport on Friday.
He has name suppression and is due to appear in the Wellington District Court next on November 2.
He has been charged with, on June 2 at Wanganui, knowingly using a forged document - a certificate of good standing - as if it were genuine.
Asked for comment, the Whanganui DHB chief executive Julie Patterson said in a statement she "believes no patient has been negatively affected by this doctor".
"While employed by the WDHB, the doctor was under appropriate supervision, he was stood down immediately, concerns were identified and he is no longer in our employ."
