Nearly 200 people grabbed the chance to take a flight in a light aircraft at the Wanganui Aero Club's open day on Saturday.
"The day went pretty well despite the weather," club captain David Walsh said.
The club was offering free 15-minute flights around the city in one of eight aircraft on hand and with the help of Aerowork and Air Wanganui.
The club did plan to have a Grumman Avenger on show but bad weather hampered its arrival.
"It was club members flying their own aircraft and in their own time," Mr Walsh said.
