Promoter and headliner Gray Bartlett said the tour would certainly play Whangarei, Tauranga and Upper Hutt - however, Wanganui, Rotorua and Hawke's Bay shows are yet to be confirmed.
"We'll do Wanganui if there's interest," he said.
"We'll have a look at the venues there and, if there's one that fits and we believe the people want it, then we'll make it happen.
"We're calling it the Heartland Tour and it's very important we get to as many of the corners of New Zealand as we can within the two weeks and two days before we do a couple of shows in Australia," Bartlett said.
"We could do either Wanganui or New Plymouth, we haven't yet nailed that one down.
"Will we do more centres? Absolutely. All we need is to get three to four hundred people to each show to make sure we don't get skinned for our trouble.
"I don't mind if we don't make a profit. That's why it's called a Heartland Tour - it's not about doing the Auckland and Wellington centres for maximum gain, minimum time. We're only doing Auckland because there's an ideal venue at SkyCity."
Bartlett, 72, estimates he, Dugan and Vaughan have played to more than two million people.
"We may be the longest-running act in New Zealand music history as Jodi, Brendan and I first played together in 1974 - that's 40 years ago. Now we want New Zealand heartland to know we haven't forgotten them.
"We'll play all the songs they still love at parties: Queen of the Silver Dollar, Apache, Rocky Top, If I Needed You. We'll do all of them."
