Whanganui Film Society's second-to-last film of the year is an open screening, which the public is invited to attend.
The movie is Die Farbe des Ozeans [The Colour of the Oceans], from 2011, and is directed by Maggie Peren.
It tells the story of a young German tourist in the Canary Islands who comes to the aid of an African refugee and his son, but soon becomes irreparably enmeshed in their fate. The film is R13, and is in German, Spanish and French, with English subtitles.
Variety described The Colour Of The Oceans as "a muscular, moving thriller ... Peren juggles the multiple perspectives of her story with aplomb."
This film is presented in association with the Goethe Institut. Entry to the screening is by koha/donation for non-members.
