The Chronicle published an article on Monday about Castlecliff woman Karen, whose name has been changed, when her house was burgled after just three weeks living in Wanganui.
On Wednesday, an anonymous donor dropped $500 into the Chronicle office to be given to Karen to help out.
Karen said she was "stuck for words" upon seeing the money, and wanted to extend "a big appreciation" to the donors.
"That's a lot from someone," she said.
