The three residents who lost everything in a Plymouth St house fire have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Wanganui people.
Sandy Hepburn, daughter Merissa Blackley and her partner James Dowdle had no contents insurance for their wooden cottage, which was destroyed by fire on May 29.
Mr Dowdle's mother Maree Rohloff said they were grateful for all the help and items donated.
"A man from Waverley is bringing down three sets of drawers and a double bed, and a lady in Purnell St dropped linen to us."
But not everyone was generous: "One woman called and abused and swore at us and said she wouldn't help," she said.
