Going without electricity, going blind, and going as themselves - Ponatahi Christian School students are making all sorts of sacrifices to raise money for the 40 Hour Famine next weekend.
From May 25 to 27, students traditionally go without food to raise money for those in poverty, but can also give up things like electricity, mobile phones and internet.
Students Madeline Hume and Emily Evers have committed to a whole year of being themselves, doing away with the latest in fashion and donning the same plain T-shirt for 365 days.
Grace Boutcher will be giving up electricity for 40 hours, and also wearing a blindfold for the weekend.
Timothy Bertram hasn't decided yet, but he is bound to give up something he misses.
