Masterton South Rotary have vowed to withdraw their offer to put fitness stations in Queen Elizabeth Park after Masterton District Council have refused to place them in the club's preferred location.
The club offered to place and maintain four apparatus on council land last year, at a cost of around $40,000.
It wanted them put near the croquet green and next to the mini golf, but the council decided they want them placed near the stream by the Kids Own Playground at a heated council meeting earlier this month.
President Sandra Kyle said she was disappointed council has not taken the club's recommendation on board. "We had negotiated a really good price with the provider of the equipment and they're going to be very disappointed if it doesn't go ahead," she said.
She said the main reason the club wanted them placed near the mini golf was for safety, as the site was visible from the street and the person who manned the golf had agreed to keep an eye on things.
