Calf and lamb days on this week

Calf and Lamb days are taking place this week.

Local schools are hosting their Calf and Lamb days this week.

Te Ranga/Town Schools on October 20; Paengaroa School on October 18; Otamarakau School on October 19; Rangiuru School on October 19; Pongakawa School on October 21.

Group Day will be a week later, on October 27 at the Te Puke Showgrounds.

Judging starts at 9.30am and runs for most of the day. The winners from each school compete and show their charges for one final time.

This year the day will be hosted by Te Ranga/Town School and Rangiuru, so there will be cake and drink sales and a sausage sizzle for all to enjoy and a way for the schools to fundraise. A lucky programme draw will be happening over the course of the day.

The Te Puke Boys and Girls Agricultural Club thanks all its supporters so far - from sponsors and local shops - that have helped to make this day happen for the children, who have taken the time to care for either a lamb, calf or goat, as it takes a lot of time, care and effort for children to take on such a responsibility.

Members of the public are welcome to come out to the showgrounds and support the children and their animals from 9am onwards.

There is no entry fee or cost to watch but don't forget your sunscreen and sun hat.
