A cryptic tweet from Campbell Live reporter Ali Ikram has fuelled speculation on the future of the show.
Ikram posted a YouTube clip of Saturday Night Fever, in which John Travolta's character struts down the street to Staying Alive. He accompanied the post with the words "current mood".
Supporters have speculated that a decision on the show's future will be made today, despite a spokeswoman for MediaWorks issuing a statement that the review is still ongoing.
An online campaign yesterday announced MediaWorks was about to make a decision on the future of the current affairs show and called for supporters to "flood" the inboxes of TV3 head of news Mark Jennings and MediaWorks chief executive Mark Weldon.
So far, more than 14,000 emails have been sent through ActionStation, a member-led campaigning organisation.
Last month, MediaWorks announced the current affairs show was being reviewed, initially calling for consultation with staff to end by April 17.
The announcement prompted an outpouring of public support, which mobilised viewers and gave the show its highest ratings in years.
More than 76,000 people have signed a petition on ActionStation calling for the show to be saved."
A Herald-DigiPoll survey carried out earlier this month found that 40.2 per cent of respondents agreed the channel should leave Campbell Live at 7pm because it was "serious journalism".
After a meeting in February, MediaWorks opted to extend a deal with key sponsor Mazda for only three months, rather than the typical one-year extension.
Mazda's sponsorship of Campbell Live is set to expire at the end of the month.
