Are you ready for a stupendously good day out?
Baldrick's Big Day Out is fast approaching with a day of fun, fighting and possibly even some turnip tossing at Victoria Park on Saturday, February 17.
Leanne Richards, Baldrick's Big Day Out committee secretary, says the biennial event is fun for all ages. The knight battles are always a crowd pleaser on the day, gathering plenty of cheers for the "home team" of knights.
This year the event will also feature demonstrations of skill at arms on horseback, something Garry Hill, Baldrick's Big Day Out committee member says will be great to watch.
"The horses and riders are incredibly skilled and the crowd at Baldrick's Big Day Out will have the opportunity to see some fantastic demonstrations of skill, speed and precision, giving an insight into how battles were fought and won in times gone by."
There is plenty of other live entertainment on the day, says Leanne.
"We have live music, dance displays and some great crowd entertainment planned."
The Ranfurly Shield will also be on display for rugby fans looking for a photo opportunity with the Log o' Wood. For the younger visitors, there will be a dedicated kids zone as well as the ever popular Shoot the Knight stall. There will also be lots of food stalls and market stalls.
"Plenty of stall holders have already booked their space for the market, so bring along your coins as there are many great things to buy on the day."
Prizes are also on offer for sauciest wench, raggediest urchin and best Baldrick, says Leanne.
"So come along in costume and prepare to have a great family fun day out."
