The New Zealand Colts outgunned South Africa 71-5 at a sodden Eden Park on Saturday night to win the international under-21 tournament
Fullback Ben Blair had a great night with the boot but also shone with the ball in hand and added a try. For many the man of the match was loosie Jerry Collins who was always a handful for the defence.
The New Zealand team was peppered with stars such as Orene Ai'i, Aaron Mauger, Keven Mealamu and Carl Hayman, who are already making their mark in the Super 12 competition. No South African Super 12 players qualified for the under-21 side.
The magnitude of the win was sweet revenge: New Zealand was beaten by South Africa in the under-21 final last year.
