There will no prizes for guessing the most popular horses - or owner - at Addington tonight. Auckland-based owner Tim Vince guaranteed himself that honour with a staggering display of generosity this week.
Tonight, Vince will shout the public $5000 worth of free drinks to celebrate the win of Lennon, which he part-owns, in last Friday's $200,000 Sales Series Pace.
Vince also part-owns Born Again Christian, who ran second to Lennon last Friday, and the pair are early favourites for tonight's $150,000 Sires' Stakes Final.
"I have always been a public bar sort of guy so it will be great to shout the people who hang out there on race night," said Vince.
"A few years ago John Singleton did it in Sydney after winning the Golden Slipper and while I don't quite have the same budget as him, I'd be thrilled to have the chance to do it.
"I'm not doing it for the recognition. I just want to shout the public bar guys a beer."
And with the Crusaders playing the Hurricanes in Christchurch tonight sure to keep the Addington crowd down, Vince's $5000 will go a long way.
