Tall Blacks shooting guard Corey Webster is getting a shot at the NBA.
Webster is set to fly to America tomorrow for an NBA workout in an attempt to secure a training camp invite, according to Australian website Downtownball.
It has not been confirmed at this stage which team Webster will be working out for, but a source indicated it was the New Orleans Pelicans.
After starring overseas for the Tall Blacks and in Game One of the Tall Blacks series against the Australian Boomers, Webster caught the eye of many suitors, and has NBA sides interested to see more.
Webster's mix of elite perimeter and mid-range shooting means he can light up sides and collect points quickly, while his defence and ball-handling skills have improved of late as his all-round game improves.
He averaged 15.3 points per game with the Breakers last season, shooting a blistering 42% from deep.
However, it is worth cautioning that it is only an invite for a workout, and that there are more steps to go before Webster's goals of firstly making a training camp, and then earning a roster spot in the NBA.
The news means that Webster will miss the Breakers' pre-season games against the Sydney Kings in Hamilton and Invercargill.
The Breakers have in the past said that they are fully supportive of Webster chasing his NBA dream, and will honour his opt-out clause if he makes it to the NBA.
The news will be confirmed tomorrow morning when the Breakers hold a press conference at 11.00am.
