From a shocking soccer throw-in to an incredible cricket caught and bowled, Daily Shorts takes a look at the lighter side of sport.
Soccer throw-ins are arguably the games most unglamourous area. But today, it's their time to shine.
In the recent international friendly against Italy, Luxembourg midfielder Chris Philipps put throw-ins into the headlines, with the worst effort in the history of the game.
Forget your sloppy foul-throws for lifting a foot or 'using too much spin', this is something extra special.
Philipps couldn't have got it any more wrong if he'd tried, slipping just as he went to release the ball and falling flat on his face as it sailed straight up, high above his head. It was not what his team-mates were anticipating, but it is a moment they will never let him forget.
Pun of the day:
Maria Sharapova once described herself as like a "cow on ice" playing on clay. She moooooves ok these days.Into the final. #thankyou, thanks.
Freddie's back
What's that they say about never forgetting how to ride a bike? Well English great Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff showed that he hasn't lost any of his cricketing ability despite a five-year exile from the sport.
Flintoff is gearing up for a return with Lancashire in the T20 Blast and proved his reactions haven't slowed in the time he has been out of the sport.
Turning out for Northern League side St Annes last weekend, he claimed three wickets in 12 overs including one stunning caught and bowled effort.
Good Grandpa
You may be familiar with Kyrie Irving's habit of dressing up as "Uncle Drew" and proceeding to throw down on unwitting opponents at pickup games, but it looks like the prank has spread to other sports. Freestyle soccer legend Sean Garnier underwent hours of makeup to disguise himself as "Abuelo Memo," and when he was unleashed on a street soccer game, the results were spectacular.
