Auckland to host the World Masters Games in 2017

Prime Minister John Key has confirmed Auckland will host the World Masters Games in 2017.

Mr Key says it was a great opportunity for the city and New Zealand as a whole.

The most recent games were held in Sydney in 2009, attracting close to 30,000 athletes.

Turin in Italy will host the next edition of the games in 2013.
