A driver had a lucky escape after his truck caused power lines to come down, cutting electricity to customers in Mosgiel, near Dunedin, this morning.
The incident happened about 9.15am when the south-bound truck's boom hit five or six lines while travelling down Factory Rd.
Mosgiel senior station officer Martin Jansen, of the Fire Service, said the driver was lucky, as live lines were left draped over the vehicle.
The driver managed to get out without help. He was not hurt in the incident.
About 20 customers remained without power late this morning.
