Another public meeting was held in March last year over concerns about a spike in burglaries in Reporoa and neighbouring Golden Springs.
The recent crimes causing concern were the theft of a ute, livestock and particularly an incident where a home was entered and occupants disturbed.
Rotorua police crime prevention manager Inspector Stu Nightingale said there had been "a couple of incidents", one involving the theft of a vehicle.
"It's completely understandable that people in Reporoa would be concerned."
The recent incidents involved the same offender, Mr Nightingale said, who police were working to identify and find.
Reported crime in Reporoa dropped slightly from July 2014 to July 2017, according to police data.
Just one crime was reported in Reporoa in July this year, none in June and one in May. Data was not yet available for August or September.
Just over 450 people lived in Reporoa at the time of the last census in 2013.
"It wouldn't be a case of crime increasing, per se," Mr Nightingale said.
"Any crime is unacceptable but it is more noticeable in those rural areas."
He urged anyone who saw suspicious activity to call police on 111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The meeting was to take place tomorrow at 7pm at the Reporoa Community Hall.
