Forced chopper landing excites at college

The Auckland Air Support Unit has provided some unexpected excitement for Reporoa College staff and students.

The unit's two Eagle helicopters landed on the school's football field last week due to "zero visibility" in the dense fog which often enshrouds Reporoa. They had been en route to Auckland after attending a job in Taupo.

Sergeant Callum Young and his crew were happy to provide an impromptu show and tell session with the students who lined up to get a closer look at the choppers.

While they were waiting, the crew took the opportunity to visit classes, including the new Year 7 and 8 block where students were working on their plastic bottle products for the Fair Go advert competition.

The crew were impressed with the work the students were doing, and the students in turn were buzzing from having had such an exciting start to their day!
