UPDATE:

A police spokeswoman said there were minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt.

She said there was a diversion in place and police were asking for motorists to be patient and drive to the conditions.

A police spokeswoman said it was a two-vehicle crash and ambulance had been called to the scene.

She said traffic was currently backed up but no further information was available.

Emergency services are on their way to a crash on Te Ngae Rd, near Coulter Rd.

Bay of Plenty district command centre Senior Sergeant Steve Shaw said police had been called to the crash and were still on the way.
