Fire investigators will today head to the scene of a house fire in Tokoroa after a home went up in flames last night.
Fire crews from Tokoroa and Putaruru spent four hours at the scene last night putting out hot spots after the fire substantially damaged the Arthur St house.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the caller had told fire crews the fire had started in a bedroom, but a fire investigator was on his way to the scene to look into the blaze further.
Mr Phillips said firefighters received the call about 10.20pm with five fire crews from Putaruru and Tokoroa called.
He was unsure how many people were in the house but said everyone made it out safely.
