Local band Swamp Thing are playing at the Okere Falls Store this weekend and will be road-testing some new songs off their latest album tomorrow, according to the duo's Michael Barker.
The album won't be released until April, and the release will be happening amid a schedule of gigs and tours around New Zealand, Australia and the US.
Opening for Swamp Thing will be Australian Minnie Marks, who is one of the finest guitarists in Australia.
The young singer-songwriter blazes on the acoustic guitar and describes her sound as "dirty sweet rock and roll".
Opening the show will be Okere Falls band The Way The River Flows.
The band is made up of local kids aged 10, 12 and 13 who are students of Barker's, and he describes their sound as "free-range pop".
