Speed, crashes and at the end a triumphant winner, the Paradise Valley Speedway track is hosting the North Island Stock Car Championships this weekend for the first time in about 10 years.
There are more than 100 entries into the competition that takes place over two nights.
On Sunday there are four qualifying groups with the top 28 cars going through to the final on Monday.
The rest of the drivers will duke it out in the second and third tier - providing their cars are driveable.
"The super stocks are the big ones, but the stocks tend to hit a bit more," said Rotorua Stock Car Club secretary Sonja Hickey.
