Rotorua's Ellis Carrington just can't get enough of singing.
It's her fifth year taking part in the annual Waiariki Institute of Technology New Zealand Aria competition, which runs until tomorrow at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.
The 16-year-old John Paul College student took to the stage yesterday to perform in four categories for her age group: light entertainment; own selection; folk or traditional and oratorio; sacred song.
She was one of hundreds of young performers taking part this weekend, as entries doubled on last year.
Despite coming down with a case of pleurisy, Ellis powered through with a performance of The Girl in 14G, dressed in her favourite dressing gown and fluffy slippers to go with the song.
