Rotorua's Julia Edward has won a gold medal at the final world rowing cup of the season.
Edward earned another first-place finish in the women's lightweight single scull event on Sunday night, during the final world cup event of the season in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Edward took the lead 250m into the race and never gave it up. She won the final in a time of 7min 55.03sec.
Unfortunately, it will be the last time this international season that Edward will compete in the single scull.
The lightweight single scull is not an Olympic event and she will return to the lightweight double scull boat for the world championships. She will team up with Sophie MacKenzie for the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam in late August.
