Five teenagers have appeared in the Rotorua Youth Court in connection to two aggravated robberies and a police chase through the city.
None of the five, who appeared yesterday, can be named due to legal reasons. Two are aged 15, two 16 and one is 17.
On Monday a police pursuit, which was called off on a number of occasions for public safety, resulted in a crash at the Te Ngae Rd and Sala St intersection. The three occupants were chased on foot by officers and a police dog resulting in all three being arrested. They were aged 15, 16 and 17 and have all been charged with unlawfully taking a vehicle.
The 16-year-old has been additionally charged with failing to stop for police and reckless driving. The 17-year-old has been additionally charged with breach of bail.
Those arrests and further information from another member of the public led police to search a house in Rotorua on Monday night where items and property linked to the aggravated robbery of Jerams' Superette on Saturday afternoon were found.
