A group of Rotorua nurses has got behind disaster relief efforts for the Philippines, raising thousands of dollars in a garage sale.
Household items like electric fans, artwork and exercise machines were in strong demand during the sale on Saturday morning that helped raise more than $2500.
Garage sale co-organiser Sid Obregon hosted the fundraiser at her home in Westbrook.
"It was very touching. People would buy items for $10 and would donate $100," she said.
"Others would buy something for $5 and would give a $20 note, then say, 'Keep the change'. So it was really, really good."
