Best known for his role as Ric on TV3's Home and Away, Mark Falcon is bringing his band Shotgun Alley to Rotorua this week.
Falcon - an Australian actor who played Ric Dalby on the popular Australian soap opera for four years - is the lead vocalist for Kiwi-based rock band Shotgun Alley.
The six-piece band will be performing an R18 gig at Rotorua's The Shed tomorrow night.
Shotgun Alley formed in 2009 and have released three singles Look at Me Now, Give it All Up and Want This.
Falcon joined the Auckland-based band earlier this year. Other band members include Jimmy Wong (keyboards), Scotty Rocker (drums), Josh Grant Betty (bass), Bahador Borhani (rhythm and lead guitars) and Davie Love (rhythm and lead guitars).
Falcon has never been to Rotorua but said he'd been told of its distinctive "sulphur smell". He was confident of being able to handle it, joking that fellow band member Scotty was smelly.
"I'm just excited to go places I've never been before," Falcon said.
He was looking forward to visiting Rotorua and hoped it would be a great gig. He urged Rotorua residents to head to The Shed to support the band.
"We want it to be more than a band playing, we want to put on a show."
He said he joined Shotgun Alley because he was a big fan of their music and had been friends with the band members for a few years.
"I jumped at the chance to join."
Shotgun Alley has performed with many New Zealand bands, as well as international stars such as Slash, Alice Cooper, Steel Panther and ZZ Top and their debut album was released on October 3.
Their tour was set to start tonight, supporting Def Leppard in Auckland before tomorrow night's show in Rotorua.
Shotgun Alley will perform at Mt Maunganui's Brewers Bar on Friday, before concerts in Napier, Wellington, Auckland, Whangarei, Dunedin and Christchurch.
Tickets for the Rotorua gig cost $20 and are available from The Shed and from www.eventfinder.co.nz
