A previous Changespotting featured a link to a pleasingly simple lighting solution involving just a standard soda bottle. This WakaWaka solar LED lamp offers a complementary lighting solution that can provide light at night as well. Many third world homes are lit with kerosene lamps, which can pose several risks to the health and safety of those who use them.

The state of your health is probably not foremost in your mind when you pop off to the little boys' room but, when the call-of-nature has been answered, this e-urinal concept design will give your health a rating out of one hundred. For a reason I'd rather not know, the designer refers to the urinal as a 'she' throughout. Strange.

Researchers at UC Berkeley have been studying leaping lizards. More specifically: their tails. Lizards have a clever way of counter-balancing their jumps with their tails to prevent themselves from landing badly. The researchers want to apply this to search-and-rescue robots, such as "Tailbot" that may need to manoeuvre in difficult terrain.
