The sister of convicted killer Gresham Marsh appealed to a parliamentary committee yesterday to keep him in jail for the rest of his life.
Rowene Marsh-Potaka told MPs that her brother, who murdered Waikato couple John and Josephine Harrison in their Te Akau home in May 1994, had no remorse and would reoffend if released on parole.
"I can guarantee you he will reoffend. I know my brother," she said.
"I want you to understand that Gresham has no remorse, and over 60 convictions should tell you that.
"He only knows revenge ... "
Marsh was sentenced in July 1994 to life imprisonment. Ms Marsh-Potaka told the justice committee that when she and her family heard the sentence they were relieved.
"But then we were told outside the court that in fact it meant 10 years," she said. "This devastated our family ... "
Ms Marsh-Potaka, appearing on behalf of the Sensible Sentencing Trust, said before Marsh committed what she called "the executions" he had threatened his family and assaulted his girlfriend.
