The last time she saw him, about 11.30pm, he told her he had been at the gym and was going to take a shower, she said.
Constable Olivia Ollington saidpolice arrived at the victim's house at 11.10pm before taking her to the Hamilton Central Police Station for formal questioning.
Ollington said police had been told about a red Ford Mondeo station wagon the alleged offender had been driving.
Detective Constable Kristal Brooker told the jury she found the accused's vehicle at his property on Alderson Rd. Detectives later returned to the property with a search warrant.
Detective Lee Samphier, in a statement read to the court, said he went to the intersection where the woman crashed her car, and gathered CCTV footage from a nearby service station.
The trial before Judge Merelina Burnett is set down for five days.
