Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has tackled the National Party on Twitter.
National took a swipe at Labour over their lack of "projects" while promoting their own vision.
National posted an image of the Waterview tunnel with the caption: "Labour wants to stop the projects and live on the vision. #LetsNot.
One Twitter user responded to National's post, writing "Didn't Helen Clark propose the Waterview tunnel?"
Clark swiftly swung into action.
"Yes - the decision to build the Waterview tunnel rather than wreck the suburb with a motorway was made by my government."
Clark's Tweet was liked more than 299 times and received more than 103 retweets.
National's Steven Joyce was quick to respond to Clark, explaing that his party was the one that "built it."
National says it stands behind the claim made in the tweet.
"We stand by it entirely," a spokesperson told the Herald.
