A fire alarm activation at Auckland International Airport has turned out to be a false alarm.

Fire Service northern shift manager Jaron Phillips said a fire alarm had been triggered in the international terminal.

Three fire crews were sent to the International Terminal building just after 11.30am.

Those inside the building were evacuated.

Fire Service shift manager Jaron Phillips says the fire alarm was activated accidentally in the check-in area.

He says firefighters have now left the scene.
