An Oamaru man fleeing police after reports of a fight in Clyde St on Wednesday afternoon may have thought he had eluded the law after he leapt a fence to make his escape.

Unfortunately for him, he landed on a beehive.

His getaway was foiled and police were soon the least of his worries as angry bees attacked and stung him several times on the head.
