Police have released footage of a mystery man they want to speak to who may have valuable information about the hit-and-run that killed an Auckland teenage skateboarder.
Waitakere police say they want to speak to the person captured in CCTV footage outside a block of shops hours before Jacob Pakura was killed on a Glen Eden street nearly a fortnight ago.
The 16-year-old died after being struck by a car on Rua Rd around midnight on January 14.
A 33-year-old West Auckland man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and ascertain injury or death after a crash, and dangerous driving.
Police said they were keen to find out who the man walking on the footpath was but emphasised he was not wanted for any wrongdoing.
They said he was not the person charged over the teen's death and did not believe he had committed any crime.
However, they believed the man might have valuable information that would help the investigation into the circumstances leading to Jacob's death.
Anyone who recognised the man was asked to call Detective Sergeant Ash Matthews on (09) 213 9747 or 0211907382.
