Fake $44 million winning Lotto ticket circulating on Chinese site WeChat

A photo of what appears to be the winning $44 million Lotto ticket circulating online is a fake, Lotto has confirmed.

The picture has been shared around the Chinese social media site WeChat, showing a ticket with the top line of numbers matching the numbers drawn in Wednesday night's record-breaking Lotto drawn, Fairfax reported.

But Lotto NZ spokeswoman Kirsten Robinson confirmed it was not the winning ticket.

The winning ticket was sold in Dairy Flat, north of Auckland.

The winning numbers for last night's draw were 1, 3, 21, 22, 29, 30, and 5 as the bonus number. The Powerball was 6.
