Police in Auckland are hunting a man for breaching prison release conditions.

Daniel Kipa, 31, is considered dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public, police warned.

"Kipa is believed to be in the Panmure/ Glen Innes area and is thought to be actively evading police.

"He is wanted to arrest for breaching his prison release conditions,'' a statement said.

"Anyone who sees Daniel Kipa or knows where he is should call 111 immediately.''

Kipa has a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck, with the letters F-U-K.

He also has a tattoo of a tear drop near left eye.
