An appeal against the SkyPath walking and cycling track under Auckland's Harbour Bridge has been dropped.

The group which has withdrawn its appeal against Auckland's SkyPath scheme says it's done so under severe duress.

Northcote Residents' Association has dropped its Environment Court appeal. But spokesman Kevin Clarke said the developer was threatening to claim costs if it won which could run into the millions of dollars.

Clarke said he had not changed his mind on the scheme, which he believe would be a financial, functional and environmental failure.
