Police are investigating links between a crash and a woman who was treated for serious injuries in Nelson Hospital last night.

Jenner Rd in the city remains closed to traffic as police try to piece together what happened.

Police say they were called to a vehicle crash on Jenner Rd at 10.30pm.

A short time later, police were called to Nelson Hospital where a woman was being treated for serious injuries.

Police say they are unsure if the events are connected and have closed Jenner Rd to examine the crash scene.

Neighbours say a police tent has been put up in the cordoned area.

Police are asking for anyone in the Jenner Rd area who saw or heard anything suspicious between 9pm and midnight to contact the Nelson Police on (03) 546 3840.

Motorists are being diverted to Murphy and Emano streets.
