A 1-year-old baby taken to Starship Hospital last night suffered her injuries in an accident at home, police have confirmed.

Detective Senior Sergeant Glen Baldwin said the child was in an "unfortunate accident" at a Blockhouse Bay address.

Police believe there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

The girl's condition was originally said to be critical. She was rushed to Starship Hospital via ambulance about 6pm yesterday.

Both Starship and police have confirmed the girl is now in a stable condition and is expected to recover.
