A woman is fighting for her life after being struck by a truck in Auckland's CBD this morning.
The pedestrian, aged about 45 to 50, was taken to Auckland City Hospital in critical condition after being hit on Grey's Avenue about 8.45am, a St John spokeswoman said.
A witness said there were several police and fire staff at the nearby carpark of The Civic theatre on Mayoral Drive.
A Northern Fire Service spokesman said it was called just before 11.20am to wash down the street.
The spokeswoman wouldn't elaborate on what was being washed down.
A man who has been standing near the crash site at the end of Grey's Avenue said there had been a lot of police in the area this morning.
"I wasn't here when it happened but there's been lots of cops around. The road was blocked off for awhile and the truck had to be towed away."
