Police in Christchurch have found no evidence of an attempted abduction of two schoolboys in Christchurch on Wednesday.

Police said on Wednesday they were hunting for a man in his 60s who allegedly attempted to abduct two boys, aged 11 and 12, from a bus stop in Riccarton after 3pm.

Today, police announced inquiries into the alleged abduction found no such situation occurred and there was no other untoward behaviour.

Police said it's a timely reminder to remind children to not approach any people or vehicles they don't know.
