New Plymouth Police are investigating an early hours assault which left a man with serious injuries.

The victim is in Wellington Hospital after an incident this morning on Currie Street in the New Plymouth business district, which happened around 3am on Saturday.

Investigators are seeking help from the public to piece together the events surrounding what happened.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the event or that may have information which could assist in the enquiry and are encouraged to contact Detective Louise Prendergast at the New Plymouth Police on 06 759 5500, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
